How DPF regeneration works
The engine-management system estimates soot loading and, when conditions allow, raises exhaust temperature so soot can be burned away. The vehicle relies on accurate sensor data and normal airflow, fuelling and exhaust operation to manage that process.
Why regeneration gets interrupted
Short journeys are one possible reason, because the engine may not reach or maintain the conditions needed to finish a regeneration. However, a sensor fault, low operating temperature, air-path issue or excessive soot production can also prevent normal operation.
